Have fun while learning driving skills:
Mission Challenge

- Challenges are organized into groups of 6 according to their theme. A gold, silver or bronze prize and credits are awarded according to the players performance.

- Mission description screen. The “start” button starts the challenge, but it is also possible to press the adjacent “i” button to view a demo run and voice guide.
You could almost call this the defining game mode of Gran Turismo for PSP®. By challenging various missions, you can have fun while learning driving skills and racing techniques.
Those who are familiar with the previous versions of the series may recognize these as “Mission Races” and “Driving Tests”, that include everything from challenges where you learn basic operations, to high level techniques for overtaking opponents in a race. This mode is designed for the enjoyment of all levels of players, from those who are new to Gran Turismo, all the way to hardcore fans of the series.
There are fun gimmicks that are unlocked when you progress in this mode, so please look forward to playing!
“Single Race” where you can enjoy races
and nurture your AI driver

- “Singe Race” were you race against 3 rival cars controlled by the computer. Start by testing your skills here!
This is the single player mode, where you can partake in a “Single Race” against 3 computer opponents, drive by yourself to attempt to improve your lap time in “Time Trial”, or partake in the “Drift Trial”, a popular mode carried over from Gran Turismo 5 Prologue where you put your Drifting technique to the test.
In the “Single Race”, there is not only racing, there are many new improvements to the system. You simultaneously nurture your AI driver (details to follow) by playing in this mode, and there are other features like the one-make option where you can set all rival cars to be the same as your car.
In addition, in the “Drift Trial” there is a “Sector Mode” where the judged sections are preset, and a “Full Course Mode” where the entire track is judged for drifting.
Nurture your AI Driver to compete in Adhoc racesLimited for use in the “Adhoc Mode”, there is an “AI Driver” in Gran Turismo for PSP® which can race for you. At first, the AI Driver may not be very good, but as you complete “Single Race” events and gain AI points, you can nurture your AI driver. AI points are collected separately for each track, so you should try racing on a variety of tracks. |
Race one day, trade cars in the next. Gather with your friends for
the “Adhoc Mode”

- Gathering to play head to head with friends rather than racing faceless opponents online, is a fun experience that is only possible on a portable game device like the PSP®.
A feature that is only possible on the PSP®, is the variety of races with up to 4 players, and the sharing and trading of cars enabled by the “Adhoc Mode”.
There are 3 types of races available. A “Standard Race” where you test your driving skills against one another, a “Party Race” where a start delay is applied to balance the players skill differences, and a “Shuffle Race” where the differences in player skill is compensated by the performance levels of the cars.
Also in Sharing and Trading, you can give or receive cars from friends, or trade cars with them. Link up with a lot of friends to fill your collection.
Party Race

- If you are subjected to a delayed start, you will not be able to move at the beginning of the race.

- Your start will come after waiting for the delay time to pass. Now its all up to your skill to catch up to the others.
Of the three types of races, we’ll introduce the “Party Race” here. As mentioned above, this is a mode in which the skill differences between the players are balanced by a delayed start for some players.
Players start the initial race simultaneously, but in the following race, players will start the race with a delay time according to their final position in the last race. For skilled players, covering for your start delay with your driving skill will be a challenge!
The “Jackpot Race”, where you can instantly win lots of credits! One unique feature added to Gran Turismo for PSP® “Adhoc Races” is the “Jackpot Race”. If a “Jackpot Race” is announced during the race, the prize credits will be multiplied. If you race repeatedly, the prize amounts will increase even further. And that’s not all. In the “Jackpot Race”, a random player is selected as the “Lucky Player”. If this “Lucky Player” comes in first place, they take all winnings for all positions of the race, making them an instant winner of a whole lot of credits! |
