- The trunk hood is equipped with an air brake that lifts during braking. The SLS AMG goes on sale next spring, and the price has been announced at 170,7310 Euro.

- The door opening is large, and is easy to get in and out. The interior is a combination of aluminum and leather, and the gearbox is a 7 speed, double clutch transmission.
On September 24, the Tokyo Game Show 2009 (*business day) opened at the Makuhari Messe of the Chiba prefecture. "Gran Turismo" displayed "Gran Turismo" for the PSP®, and a playable demonstration of "Gran Turismo 5". The "Gran Turismo 5" area set at one corner of the Sony Computer Entertainment booth overflowed with customers interested in finding out for themselves just how far it has evolved.
In addition to the play test demo display, something else that grabs the attention of visitors is the display of a real gull-winged Mercedes Benz sports car, the SLS AMG. This is a new model that was just unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show opening in Germany last week, band with the collaboration between "Mercedes Benz" and "Gran Turismo", this event was chosen as the place for its first public appearance in Japan.
The SLS AMG is the flagship sportscar of Mercedes Benz replacing the SLR. Though the traditional long nose style is attractive by itself, the real shock comes from the gull-winged doors that open upward pivoting on the roof. It is reminiscent of the legendary "300SL", which caused a revolution in sports cars when it appeared in 1954.
On the other hand the engineering supporting the car is a conglomeration of the latest technology. The body is constructed of an aluminum spaceframe, and the engine is mounted front-midship. The gearbox is in a trans-axle layout, merged with the rear differential. Its performance is overwhelming, with the dry sump lubricated 6.3 liter V8 engine built by AMG producing 571ps, accelerating from 0-100km/h in 3.8 seconds, and reaching a maximum speed of 317km/h.
At the game show floor, it is also possible to experience the driving performance of this car in a demonstration version of "Gran Turismo 5", positioned next to the real car. Visitors are able to experience first hand the extraordinary performance of the SLS AMG, driving flat out on the revamped Tokyo Route 246 course.
